What should an AI receptionist say on the phone?

The best AI receptionist scripts sound helpful, not robotic. They ask enough to act, but not so much that the caller feels blocked.

Start with the caller goal

The opening should quickly establish whether the caller needs a booking, quote, urgent help, existing-customer support or general information.

Ask only useful questions

Every question should support qualification, booking, routing or follow-up. Avoid collecting detail nobody will use.

Build clear escalation

The script should know when to stop, summarise and route the caller to a person.
